Clark backs Charnley to earn quick England recall

Daryl Clark has backed Josh Charnley to work his way into England selection ahead of the mid-season Denver test.

The winger has enjoyed a stunning return to the 13-man code, scoring ten tries in six appearances since making his return from Sale.

Clark has been impressed with his Warrington teammate since making the move to the Halliwell Jones, and the England hooker believes Charnley would fit straight back into the international scene.

“He’s come back, started well and is scoring tries,” Clark said.

“He’s playing well and I can’t see why he can’t push his way in. I don’t make the selections so it’s nothing to do with me. But if he keeps going like he is he’ll have every chance.

“There’s always that of how long it will take for him to settle back in and switching back over but it seems like he’s never been away. He’s scoring some great tries and playing well. If he keeps doing that he’ll push his way back in.

“He’s been in the setup before and I can’t see why he wouldn’t be ready for it. Kevin Sinfield has said the door is open for anyone and if he keeps playing well he’ll be knocking on the door.”
