Giants announce pre-season fixtures

Simon Woolford will have three games to assess his squad as they prepare for Super League in 2019.

The Giants will host Bradford Bulls in Michael Lawrence on Sunday 13th January before travelling up to Cumbria to play Workington Town the following weekend.

Huddersfield will travel to Wakefield Trinity on either the 22nd or the 23rd of January, a midweek game, with the date dependant on the start dates of both teams in the Super League the following week.

“It’s funny how the games come around quicker than you think and the key one will be the final game we’ll play across at Wakefield which will ideally be 9 days out from our opening Super League game,” said Woolford

“We start with a clean slate and the players will know exactly what we expect from them if they want to be in line for selection come round one.

“Our one home game will see a good number play and we want if all goes to plan to give the home fans the chance to see every new player have a run and hopefully get a good crowd for Michael Lawrence as it’s his testimonial game.

“Anyone who doesn’t make that game through injury or poor training (new signing or not) will go to up to Workington and have to play well there to get a shot at the final trial game at Wakefield where ideally I’ll look to take 19 and the of course whittle down to 17 for the week after.”
