Radford happy with Hull reply

Lee Radford insists he got the response he demanded from both his side and key individuals after they shrugged off last week’s humiliation against Warrington with victory at Salford to move back into the play-off places.

Hull were 23-16 winners at the AJ Bell Stadium on Sunday to make it four successive away wins, and Radford admits he had had words with a number of key individuals, including prop Scott Taylor, following their performances against the Wolves.

“There was some real grittiness in that response,” said Radford.

“There were responses from certain individuals too, that I’d privately challenged and Scott was one of them.

“He was nowhere near last week; to get an England call-up and then lob a performance like that in was embarrassing. So for him to show the response he did and set the stall out for the lads in the manner he did was really pleasing. It went a long way towards winning the game.”
