Batley Bulldogs are trialling amateur halfback Aiden Ineson.
The Dewsbury Moor player has been training with Craig Lingard’s club and has impressed the Bulldogs boss.
Lingard (pictured) said: “He’s trained with us the last couple of weeks and has looked really good.
“We’ve done several opposed sessions with Dewsbury Moor and that’s where we saw him first, when he stood out.
“We invited him down and he’s gone from strength to strength.
“We don’t want to stop him playing for Dewsbury Moor, so we need to look at the best way forward now for him to get games.
“He’s not far off pushing for a first-team spot here, because we only have two out-and-out halfbacks at the club.
“There’s an opportunity for him there and we’ll have a chat about him signing permanently.”
Lingard has also explained the club’s stance on backrower Danny Bravo moving on loan to Doncaster for the season.
Lingard said: “He just needs to play after having had two years of horrendous injuries.
“Unfortunately he plays in a position where we’ve got lots of cover.
“He’s been accepting of that and has been absolutely spot on with the way he’s trained and understanding where I’m coming from.
“He’s pushed it himself, because he wants to go out and play rather than be sat on the sidelines here.
“We’ve got a 48-hour call back on him if we do get injuries and are short on numbers, but at this stage of his career he just needs to be playing.”
Lingard was without Joe Taira (concussion), Shaun Pick (neck) and Johnny Campbell (ankle) for Sunday’s game with Sheffield Eagles.
