Coach Steve Price is looking forward to seeing George Williams make his mark on Super League as his Warrington side approach the “exciting” stage of the season.
Price is out to deliver a first title for Warrington since 1955 as he prepares to return to Australia at the end of this campaign.
Having faced Leeds at Emerald Headingley in the wake of a 21-8 home win over Wigan, Warrington host Hull on Sunday.
After that comes a trip to Wakefield on Sunday, August 15 before a home meeting with Catalans Dragons the following Friday.
“We just need to keep putting in strong performances,” said Price, whose side claimed a tenth league win at the expense of Wigan.
“I was really pleased with the defensive effort, but we know we have to be much better with the ball.
“This is the second part of the season now where it gets really exciting. We feel we’re in a good position.
“We had a bit of a reset, which was unforeseen with Covid, but the boys are both physically and mentally strong, so it is important now that we keep growing our game, because we’re under no illusions that there are aspects we need to improve on.”
On halfback Williams, signed on a three-and-a-half-year contract following his departure from Canberra Raiders, Price said: “He’s excited for the challenge.
He hasn’t played in a while so there’s no expectation on him; it’s more about defending well, kicking strong and doing things that we know he does well. We just want him to enjoy himself.”
