ENGLAND stand-off Mikey was a standout in his side’s 22-18 defeat of Tonga on Sunday afternoon.
Lewis played a hand in several of England’s tries and showed some brilliant footwork, scoring a great solo try of his own.
England coach Shaun Wane was impressed but he believes the young livewire is capable of more.
“He was good, but he can do a lot better, there is no question in my mind,” Wane said.
“I hope he doesn’t mind me saying that.
“He’s a lot more talented and he did really well today his first game against a big athletic team.
Lewis admits his coach instilled the confidence in him to chance his hand.
“The last thing Shaun said to me was when you get a middle around the corner, back yourself,” Lewis said.
“That’s all I did, I just stepped off my right foot and the gap was there.”
England lock Victor Radley sung the praises of his team-mate on debut.
“He was outstanding, he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile,” Radley said.
“We’ve got on well over the past few days; we’ve been going for coffee and I really like him.
“He’s playing with Hally (Ryan Hall) at Hull and he’s a bit shy, but I’ve loved him ever since I came over.
“He’s got a great family; they presented him his jersey the other night and it was awesome to see.
“I was proud to be a part of that moment for him.”
