Keighley Cougars forward undergoes surgery

KEIGHLEY COUGARS back-rower Josh Lynam has undergone an operation on his finger.

However, Lynam is expected to only miss a couple of weeks of pre-season following the injury in his side’s loss to Bradford in late December.

Brandon Pickersgill’s suspected fracture of a finger in the same match was dismissed by an X-ray, so the fullback will be free to play in the Cougars’ Challenge Cup fixture against York Knights on Sunday, February 2.

Meanwhile, Elliott Cousins has recovered from the concussion suffered in the festive fixture and will be in contention for Sunday’s pre-season visit of Halifax.

Aaron Brown is scheduled for hernia removal surgery, but Harry Bowes will have to wait a little longer to make his debut at Cougar Park following his move from Featherstone while he recovers from a minor calf injury.

Valu Tane Bentley, an off-season addition from Leigh, is recovering from wrist surgery but will face a further six weeks out of action before being considered to play.
