ROCHDALE HORNETS recruit Dec O’Donnell had no doubts about penning a one-year deal with the club.
The 26-year-old Ireland international who has played for Workington, Leigh and Oldham arrives following a spell out of the professional game, during which he was with Ashton Bears and Wigan St Patricks.
He bagged twelve tries in 35 games across two stints with Workington.
“I’m really happy to have signed for Rochdale after a short break from the game,” he said.
“After speaking with (coach) Gary Thornton and hearing the vision he has for the club, it was really a no-brainer.
“I’m looking forward to the season, when hopefully we can go one better than last year (Rochdale came within a win of the grand final).”
Thornton said: “I’m delighted to have a player of Dec’s experience and quality on board.
“He’s been out of the game for quite a while, but he’s come through some good systems and will add good experience in a place we need it after losing Aiden Roden (to Midlands Hurricanes).
“Having Oli Burton (signed from Batley) and Dec in the building now gives us great strength in depth, in a vital area of the team.”
