Tom Johnstone makes hilarious hat revelation about Wakefield Trinity coach Daryl Powell

THE secret is out about Daryl Powell – if he is unhappy in training then the hat he is wearing gets taken off.

That’s the revelation from new Wakefield Trinity signing Tom Johnstone, who has witnessed this first hand from the sideline as Powell monitors training.

It is the first time that Powell and Johnstone have worked together, with the latter penning a four-year deal with his boyhood club whilst the latter guided Trinity to promotion to Super League at the end of last season.

For the 29-year-old, his new head coach is definitely interesting to watch!

“He’s been great, pretty calm and collected. He’s outlined what he wanted from us from day one and there’s a standard there that he wants us all to adhere to,” Johnstone told League Express.

“If the hat comes off in training then you know there’s a problem but he has been good with the lads. If I’ve had any issues or anything I need to bring up from the boys’ point of view, he has been very understanding and helpful.

“The has not come off with me yet that I know of! It’s more like I didn’t take part in the first four to six weeks so I was on the bike at the side and you see a few balls go down, you start to wince and then the hat comes off.

“I’ve not seen him throw it on the floor just yet but I have been told that can happen!”
