Dewsbury Rams consider complaint over HIA incident

DEWSBURY RAMS are thought to be considering taking further action following Sam Day’s head injury against Goole last time out, League Express understands.

Following the game, which Dewsbury won 22-16, coach Paul March told the club’s social-media channels that although Day passed a subsequent HIA, he wasn’t cleared in time to return to the field, adding: “A complaint will be going in because at the end of the day that could have cost us when we needed to make another substitution.”

While nothing formal has been launched yet, it is thought the club are still reviewing the situation before deciding whether or not to lodge a formal complaint with the RFL.

The Rams were without a game at the weekend due to the fourth round of the Challenge Cup, but some of March’s players had run-outs elsewhere as part of dual-registration deals.

Joel Russell and Charlie Harris featured for Bradford Reserves on Saturday, while Louie Walker (Dewsbury Moor) and Harvey Roberts (Thornhill Trojans) returned to their community clubs.

“Those guys haven’t featured much yet this season, so they were able to get some valuable gametime,” added March.

“Deals like this are massive for us and the players. Because we don’t have an Academy or Reserve side, it’s always hard to give these players gametime if they can’t go out on loan.

“When they signed the deals with us I did say to them that if they weren’t playing for us they’d go back to their community clubs.”
