HULL KR head coach Willie Peters has addressed links with Brisbane Broncos veteran Adam Reynolds.
The Daily Telegraph revealed over the weekend that the 34-year-old was attracting “significant interest” from Super League side Hull KR, with Reynolds and Rovers head coach Peters knowing each other from their time at South Sydney Rabbitohs.
With the Broncos set for a salary cap squeeze with the likes of Kotoni Staggs, Payne Haas, Selwyn Cobbo, Kobe Hetherington and Cory Paix all coming off contract.
Reynolds has made 293 appearances in the NRL over the course of 13 years, with nine seasons at the Rabbitohs and a further four with the Broncos.
Despite Reynolds’ issues with injuries, he has no desire to retire and previously said: “The plan is to play on,” Reynolds told Triple M.
“I will keep all options open at the moment. You never know what is around the corner.”
Now Peters has given his say on the speculation.
“We won’t do a report on recruitment at this stage but when we do we will give more detail,” Peters said.
“We talk about players all the time and how they can improve the squad but there’s nothing to report on where we are in terms of recruitment.”
For Peters, he was asked about recruitment as a whole and how long they will wait to make a decision on Tyrone May.
“Paul Lakin (Rovers’ chief executive) and I discuss recruitment pretty much every day just like every coach and CEO will do.
“We like to plan ahead, it’s worked for us in the past but after December time, players like Tyrone are available for any team.
“We have had conversations around that. At the moment, players off-contract could get snapped up by another side and vice-versa.
“He could be at the club next year but Tyrone has openly said he wants to go back and play with his brothers and he has said that a number of times.
“He will be waiting for a chance to see if that opens up but we as a club also need to see if any other opportunity pops up.
“If we wait and Tyrone gets a new club, we could miss the boat. There are discussions and we look at what’s available.”
