FORMER Hull FC and Castleford Tigers head coach Lee Radford has revealed that he won’t be returning to rugby “any time soon” after signing a new deal with rugby union side Northampton Saints.
Radford coached Hull for six years, winning back-to-back Challenge Cup titles before being given the elbow by former owner Adam Pearson live on Sky Sports.
The ex-front-rower made a return to coaching with Castleford in 2022, but remained for just over a season before making the move to the 15-man code with Northampton.
And, talking to BBC Radio Humberside, Radford explained that he won’t be transitioning back to league in the near future.
“Not any time soon,” Radford told BBC Radio Humberside.
“I’ve just signed an extension at Northampton and I’m really enjoying my time. It’s been a great transition for myself.”
Radford also admitted that he doesn’t get the chance to watch much rugby league anymore – though the NRL does take precedent for his players.
When asked if Radford misses the 13-man code, he said: “I do and I don’t. I’m obviously very busy watching union, the fixtures for us at the moment are coming thick and fast, so you don’t tend to get much time to watch rugby league, particularly Super League.
“If I do watch it, I watch the NRL, a couple of our boys at Northampton are big NRL fans, so we have a fantasy league going.”
