Wakefield Trinity star hit by “mystery” nerve issue in “huge loss” for Super League club

WAKEFIELD TRINITY star Caleb Hamlin-Uele will be out indefinitely with a “mystery” nerve issue.

The 25-year-old has made nine appearances for Trinity during the 2025 Super League season, scoring one try, but he will be out for an unspecified amount of time.

With Wakefield assistant coach Michael Shenton delivering the club’s pre-match media duties ahead of Trinity’s clash with Warrington Wolves, the injury prognosis was explained.

“Caleb’s injury is a mystery one, it’s a nerve issue and until it fires back up it would be irresponsible to play him,” Shenton said.

“He is a huge loss. He has caught everyone by surprise and has been a fantastic player for us.

“He got what’s called a stinger where it sends a shockwave down from the shoulder.

“Sometimes it can wear off during the game and a player can return to the field, sometimes it takes days, weeks and even months.

“What we aren’t going to do is rush him back.”

So who else who will be out or close to return in the next few weeks?

“Matty Russell will be back and Seth Nikotemo is in the mix to play but it will be a few weeks before we see anyone else come back.

“Pack wise, they are a few months away so we are down to the bare bones.

“Olly Russell isn’t too far away but he has a broken hand.

“Tommy Doyle won’t be too far away and had shoulder surgery in the off-season. We rushed him back and he hasn’t had the chance for a pre-season.”
