Mikey Lewis on other interest and why he signed long-term deal with Hull KR

MIKEY LEWIS has revealed that Hull KR’s building towards silverware convinced the halfback to pen a new five-year deal with the East Yorkshire clubs.

Lewis had been linked with a move to the NRL for a number of months before Rovers made their play to nail down one of England’s greatest rising stars.

The 24-year-old has been a key part of KR’s rise to treble winners, registering 75 tries and 112 goals in 131 appearances for Rovers.

And Lewis is in no mood to stop there after committing his long-term future to the club.

“It’s about what this club is building, I’ve been here since the club started its rebuild off the field,” Lewis told League Express.

“Seeing the plans and the results of where this club is going, we are up there competing in every competition.

“Playing in finals, winning silverware – that’s all I have wanted to do. I play for this badge every time I go out on to the pitch because of the fans and the connection I have with them.

“I have the same bond with the playing group and the board too, including Neil (Hudgell, owner).

“There’s no other place like home and I feel like I am home here.”

Lewis also admitted: “There was other interest, but I always knew where my bread was buttered – it was here at Hull KR.

“I can’t wait for these next five years now and winning more silverware for this club and these fans.”
