LUKE ROBINSON is confident Huddersfield Giants have made strides to avoid the injury crises of seasons past.
Huddersfield’s Super League hopes have been hit by the frequency of injuries, especially in the year just gone.
A swathe of players missed pre-season and the start of the campaign, while absences to key men, especially in the spine, continued throughout the year.
Adam Clune made just six appearances, Liam Sutcliffe was limited to five and Niall Evalds was injured in both the games he played.
Tui Lolohea, Adam Swift, George King and Sam Hewitt were among the other players to miss significant portions of the season.
“The amount of injuries we’ve had, I’ve never seen anything like it in my life,” lamented Robinson, for whom it plagued a first full season as head coach.
“But it’s the injuries in the same positions that killed us. When you lose them all in the same position it really hurts you.”
But Robinson insists Huddersfield are doing everything in their power to ensure the same issues aren’t repeated next season.
“We’ve got a big turnover of backroom staff,” he said.
“We’ve made adjustments to the field. We found there were some issues going on there.
“There has been a thorough review, we’ve not glossed over anything. We’ve looked at what we can do differently, what we can change.
“A lot of the injuries we looked at and said there’s not much we could do and it’s pure luck. There are others that we’ve looked at and thought we can definitely change the way we do things, what we train on and how we train on it.
“There will be adjustments and hopefully we’ll be better for it in the long run.”
