Nigel Wood gives brief statement in response to Super League-NRL talks

THE chairman of RL Commercial, Nigel Wood, has given a brief statement in response to the talks that were held yesterday (Tuesday, 28th October) between British and Australian representatives.

The Rugby Football League, RL Commercial as well as representatives of three Super League clubs met with Australian chiefs Peter V’landys and Andrew Abdo whilst they were in the UK for the Ashes Test series.

V’landys, the chairman of the Australian Rugby League Commission, said afterwards that Super League must improve its financial sustainability and change its governance structure.

Wood said after the meeting: “The RFL, RL Commercial and representatives from the Betfred Super League clubs met with Peter V’landys and Andrew Abdo who are in England for the revival of the Ashes series.

“It was an excellent meeting, positive and progressive in every way, with much to build on. We look forward to discussions continuing.”
