WAKEFIELD TRINITY forward Caleb Hamlin-Uele has agreed a contract extension all the way trough to 2030.

The development reflects a fine year for the popular Kiwi prop until a shoulder injury ended his involvement in July.

The 26-year-old was signed ahead of the 2024 campaign after impressing with Newtown Jets in the New South Wales Cup.

He played a key role as Wakefield won both the 1895 Cup and Championship Grand Final in his first season in the UK.

After that, Trinity extended his original contract to 2027, and his subsequent Super League performances have led to the latest development.

The younger brother of Cronulla Sharks prop Braden Hamlin-Uele has made 44 Wakefield appearances, becoming a fans’ favourite.

Now well on the road to recovery, he is ready to tackle pre-season and said: “I’m really happy to be staying.

“The club and fans have treated me so well since the beginning and I’m truly grateful for it.”

Trinity coach Daryl Powell said: “Caleb has been an outstanding part of our pack for the last two seasons.

“His ability to carry the ball and offload alongside being a really solid defender will make him one of the best frontrowers in the competition over the coming seasons.

“I’m delighted he has decided to extend his contract and look forward to working with him over what I am confident will be a really successful period for our club.”

Director of rugby Steve Mills added: “A long-term deal for Caleb was an easy decision for the club to make.

“He had an unlucky year but when he did take the field, he was top-class.”
