WIGAN WARRIORS coach Denis Betts is hopeful he will see one of last season’s Australian stars return for 2026.
The club have already recruited Bethan Dainton and Kelsey Gentles as replacements in the pack for Shaniah Power and Emily Veivers, who have both made the decision to return Down Under and aim for regular gametime in the NRLW.
But Australian hooker Remi Wilton has yet to make her intentions clear.
She was named as the club’s player of the year for 2025 by Betts and his coaching staff after a stellar debut season in which she scored five tries in 19 appearances.
And the boss knows how crucial she could be if she were to return for a second season in cherry and white.
“Remi is currently back home in Australia but she has said she could possibly be coming back to us for the new season,” he told League Express.
“We’re just waiting to see what happens there, but it will be great if she does come back over because she made a massive difference to us.
“She is an out-and-out nine who could really control us and do the things we needed to do.
“She gave us so much shape and confidence that it was infectious around the group.
“I’m hopeful she’ll come back, the girls are hopeful she’ll come back – everyone around the club is – but it will be her choice. We’d love to have her back.”
