HUNSLET prop Harvey Hallas is happy to be staying for at least two more seasons – and looking forward to helping Kyle Trout’s side improve in the new second tier after a tough 2025 campaign in the old Championship.
The 28-year-old joined ahead of 2020, having impressed as a junior at Oulton Raiders and Normanton Knights and spent time in the development systems of both Wakefield and Leeds and had stints at Keighley, Coventry and Dewsbury.
Hallas, who rates former Wakefield, Featherstone, Hull KR and Dewsbury forward Richard Slater as a big influence, having been coached by him at Normanton, has topped 100 Hunslet appearances and become a fans’ favourite.
He played a key role in the promotion from League One in 2024, but last time around, the team finished bottom of the second tier having struggled to adapt to the step up.
“I’m really pleased to have got the new deal over the line, and I’m looking forward to seasons seven and eight here,” he said.
“I suppose it’s a long time to have been at one club, but I’m happy to be staying here and going around with the boys again.
“Trouty messaged me during the close-season about the league restructure and his and the club’s plans going forward, and I thought it would be good to stay on board.
“I have made a good connection with the fans – they are a tight-knit group, they come week in, week out, and you tend to get to know a lot of them, so it’s good to carry on playing in front of them.
“We all want to give something back to them for sticking with us, we want to be a competitive team and show what we are about.”
While Hallas is staying put, former Super League back Greg Eden, who played twelve times and scored four tries last season after switching from Featherstone, has joined North Wales Crusaders.
