THE Rugby Football League has extended a Christmas and New Year message to everyone at the grassroots.
Kelly Barrett, head of delivery for the community game, said: “As the year comes to a close, we want to say a genuine thank you for everything you do for community Rugby League. Your time, energy and passion, both on and off the field, are what make the game thrive.
“2025 has been a busy and important year for the community game. We’ve seen great progress with the National Community Rugby League, from planning the new open-age pyramid to supporting clubs in developing players, engaging volunteers and strengthening their local communities. Your continued dedication on and off the field has kept the heart of Rugby League strong.”
She continued: “Looking ahead to 2026, we’re excited to launch the National Community Rugby League fully, bringing together open-age and youth and junior competitions.
“This includes the open-age pyramid, which aims to create clearer pathways, stronger competition and better support for clubs across the country.
“We’re grateful for your engagement as we prepare for this next chapter.
“From all of us at the RFL, we wish you, your players, volunteers and families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
“We look forward to working with you in 2026 and beyond to keep growing the game together. Thank you again for everything you do for the sport.”
