SUNDAY’S pre-season game between Keighley Cougars and London Broncos has been cancelled.
It’s the latest match to succumb to the freezing conditions across the UK, with five pre-season games called off along with eight of Saturday’s scheduled Challenge Cup first-round ties.
While all of the knockout games will attempt to go again next weekend, none of the pre-season encounters will be rearranged.
The clash at Cougar Park was set to be the first glimpse of London under their ambitious new ownership, while Keighley have endured a tumultuous week with the departure of head coach Alan Kilshaw.
Keighley said the decision was taken on Saturday afternoon because they “cannot guarantee that the pitch will be safe and playable”.
London will now go raw into their Championship opener at home to Widnes Vikings next Sunday (January 18) while Keighley, who lost to Sheffield Eagles before Christmas, welcome Goole Vikings the same day.
