LEEDS RHINOS star Max Simpson has suffered an ACL injury that will require surgery and that will rule him out for the entire 2026 Super League season.
It’s the third serious injury of Simpson’s career, with the 21-year-old suffering the problem during Leeds’ win over Bradford Bulls in Cameron Smith’s testimonial game.
Elsewhere, scans have confirmed that forward James McDonnell has an ankle syndesmosis injury that will rule him out for 4-6 weeks.
Leeds captain Ash Handley left the game just before half time with a groin injury. Scans and a specialist have confirmed no serious injury with Handley set to be sidelined for two weeks to recover.
Winger Chris Hankinson suffered an open nasal fracture in the first half against the Bulls which required treatment and stitches on the day. He will be available for the opening round of the Super League season.
Meanwhile, Maika Sivo continues his return to full fitness and is due to be available for selection in the opening rounds of the season.
Jeremiah Matautia is recovering from a minor knee injury suffered in training and is due back in training in the coming weeks whilst Keenan Palasia has returned to training this week.
Fullback Alfie Edgell has had surgery on the quad injury he sustained on Boxing Day and is set to be back in 12 weeks.
