Ex-St Helens flyer Regan Grace suffers another serious injury

FORMER St Helens flyer Regan Grace has suffered another Achilles injury in rugby union, with the 29-year-old set for surgery.

Over the course of six seasons with Saints, Grace scored 88 tries in 142 appearances, the last of them in July 2022 when he first ruptured his Achilles tendon.

The 29-year-old signed for French Top 14 union club Racing 92, but never played a game for them after suffering the same injury six months later.

Spells at Bath and Cardiff followed before Grace joined Sale Sharks on a short-term deal in November 2025.

However, the Welsh flyer’s awful injury luck has continued, and he is set to go under the knife once more this week.

“Unfortunately, I’ve suffered another Achilles injury this week on the opposite side to my previous one so I’ll be undergoing surgery tomorrow,” he said.

“After putting everything into getting back on the pitch following multiple setbacks, this is a tough one to process.

“I’m still finding my feet mentally and figuring out what the next chapter looks like.

“I love rugby, I’d have walked away a long time ago if I didn’t, but I know the journey ahead won’t be easy.

“I am incredibly grateful for the support around me, which means more than I can put into words – especially from my partner Nina.

“I genuinely give my all to the sport. I don’t have all the answers right now but I will keep moving forward.”
