Scott Taylor ‘miles better’ as coach in second Goole Vikings season

GOOLE VIKINGS team chief Scott Taylor says he feels a far more confident coach this season than he did last, which was the club’s first as a professional outfit.

“There were a lot of hurdles to get over during the year, as well as finishing my coaching badges and dealing with a lot of distractions,” Taylor told League Express. “But it was a real success and I feel I’m miles better for it.

“I’m still in the deep end and there’s a lot to be done, but I’m really excited with the challenge. I’m getting a lot of vital experience.”

Taylor, who oversaw a third-round Challenge Cup win over Halifax Panthers last weekend, is delighted with the new club’s status in the local community after having had such a short existence.

“The peak crowds were about 800 last year in summer, which was absolutely brilliant in League One.

“Once the new stand is finished at the end of March and it’s fully open I’m sure there will be even more coming.

“People around town are so supportive and are asking for news of the players. We’re gaining more momentum the longer it’s gone on.”
