MIKEY LEWIS “needs to learn” from his costly yellow card in Hull KR’s 19-18 defeat at York Knights, Willie Peters has admitted.
The Robins coach was disappointed by Lewis’ 61st-minute trip on Liam Harris, which turned the match in York’s favour – and could result in a ban for next Thursday’s World Club Challenge.
“It was there to see. There’s not a great deal to say. He needs to learn from what he did and action it because it was a key moment in the game,” said Peters.
“He knows and he’s owned it, but I want to see some action off the back of it.
“I am disappointed because Mikey’s come a long way in that area. It was a brain explosion or I don’t know what to call it because he’s the only one that can say what happened.
“But we were in control then and then we lost control off the back of it. We didn’t handle it well as a team, which we need to look at as well.
“I’m very frustrated. It was a really ill-disciplined performance.
“We gave away way too many penalties and obviously a big moment in the game was when we were twelve points up and then we didn’t handle it.”
Peters also hailed the performance of Super League newcomers York, saying: “They were very good and it was no surprise how they played.
“They ended up coming over the top of us and we got what we deserved.”
