THE ANCIENT rivalry between Swinton Lions and Salford will be renewed for the first time in 18 years when the two teams meet at Heywood Road on Easter Sunday (kick-off 3.00pm).

Salford are undefeated in their last 15 meetings with Swinton, having won 14 and drawn one. Swinton’s last victory against Salford was a 9-5 Second Division away win at The Willows on 8 April, 1985.

Salford are also undefeated in their last seven away meetings with Swinton, having won six and drawn one. Swinton’s last home victory against Salford was an 18-5 Second Division win at Station Road on 26 December, 1984.

Lions coach Anthony Murray (pictured above) has made two changes to his squad following their 74-6 defeat at Doncaster last week, recalling halfback Reece Briers and adding former Midlands Hurricanes halfback Brad Billsborough to his squad.
