DAVID BUTLER, Halton Farnworth Hornets, Saturday
ENGLAND ground out an impressive win against an Ireland side who showed much improvement on their display in the 50-0 defeat by Wales.
The title-chasing hosts, who were 28-0 ahead at the break, totalled twelve tries.
Brogan Turner crossed twice in the opening quarter and Oli Paterson bagged a brace in the second quarter.
Henry Lenthall scored close to half-time and also claimed the game’s last touchdown, while Ben Grindley-Roberts chipped in with a try and ten goals.
Other tries went to Will Lintin, James Leach, Hayden Todd, Noah Tyson and Harry Lowery.
Ireland’s cause wasn’t helped by the sinbinning of Tom Ashurst on 63 minutes for holding down.
England now travel to Wales for a title decider on Saturday week, June 20.
