Catalans Dragons sign Australian forward Edenn Rogers-Smith

CATALANS DRAGONS have signed Australian forward Edenn Rogers-Smith from Carcassonne on a deal until the end of this season.

Rogers-Smith, 27, played in the second-tier New South Wales Cup for North Sydney Bears, Western Suburbs Magpies and Sydney Roosters before moving to France two years ago.

He appeared in successive Super XIII Grand Final defeats for the Canaries, against Albi last season and then Pia earlier this month in a match played as a double-header in Paris alongside Catalans’ Super League tie with Wigan Warriors.

Principally a back-rower, Rogers-Smith weighs in at 112kgs and takes the overseas quota spot of Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui, who was released from his contract last week.

“I am very happy to join a club like Catalans Dragons,” said Rogers-Smith.

“It’s a great opportunity to be part of such a respected club, with a rich history and supported by passionate supporters.”

Catalans host Bradford Bulls at Stade Gilbert Brutus on Saturday.
