Rugby league festival gets set for kick off in Wales

RUGBY LEAGUE enthusiasts in Wales are confident that the undoubted success of last year’s inaugural JetsFest will be surpassed when junior and open-age teams convene on Penallta RFC on Saturday.

More than 400 players took part in the 2025 event at Ammonford and that figure could be significantly exceeded this weekend.

The day will climax with a JES Rugby League Conference Men’s fixture between South Wales Jets and Rhondda Outlaws (5.30pm), but before that South Wales and their West Wales Jets counterparts will meet at as many junior levels as possible.

Rhondda will also open the action, at 9.30am, when their Under 13s meet South Wales Jets Greens.

Also with a 9.30am start, the first-ever girls’ club match between two Welsh sides will take place, when Aber Valley Wolves play South Wales Jets.

Warrington‘s Culcheth Eagles girls’ team will face South Wales Jets Under 14s while other clubs invited are Cardiff Blue Dragons, Swansea Rams and Torfaen Tigers.

It is hoped that members of Wales’ Wheelchair and Women’s squads will be present, while food and drink will be available throughout the day.

There will also be music, inflatables and family entertainment.
