THE squad has been confirmed for the England Masters Lionhearts side that will meet Scotland in the autumn.
An eighteen-man party, which has been whittled down from 72 nominations, is now building towards the fixture in Edinburgh on Saturday 31 October and for other events this year.
Eighteen different clubs are represented in the squad, which is: Phil Abbott (Bassetlaw Bulldogs), Steven Corfield (Crosfields), Martin Fisher (Rebels), Mitchell Glencross (Carlisle), Michael Hanson (Doncaster Toll Bar), Darren Holdsworth (Guiseley), David Holt (Leigh East), James Horgan (Swindon St George), Mark Long (Spring View), Ken Mason (Catterick Crusaders), Michael McMullen (Maryport), Ian Murgatroyd (Rochdale), Willie Reid (Arcedon Rams), Barry John Sharrock (North East Thunder), Michael Smith (Hull Warriors), Martin Spenceley (Cottingham Tigers), Matthew Stead (Huddersfield) and Glenn Tyreman (Solent Spitfires).
Masters Rugby League is limited to players over 35 years of age and a Rugby Football League spokesperson stated: “Players have been considered for their attitude, commitment, sportsmanship, team values and the positive contribution they can make to the England Masters Lionhearts environment.”
Geoff Grieves has been appointed as England Team Manager, while nominations are invited for the 2027 squad.
Meanwhile, two further potential sponsors could join existing backer Cobus this year.
