NEWCASTLE THUNDER have signed Castleford Tigers youngster Alfie Horwell for the remainder of the Championship season.
It is the 20-year-old’s second spell with the club, for whom he featured four times in League One last year.
Newcastle currently sit in second place – behind only runaway leaders London Broncos – with their fortunes transformed amid a partnership with York Knights that has seen players feature for both clubs.
Castleford are hopeful that the young hooker will “gain valuable game time” with Thunder, who say Horwell will add “further quality and competition to the squad.”
The club added: “Everyone at Newcastle Thunder is excited to welcome Alfie to the club and looks forward to seeing him in action in Thunder colours throughout the remainder of the season.”
