Ellis Gillam rejoins hometown club Barrow Raiders on loan from Toulouse Olympique

BARROW RAIDERS have welcomed back forward Ellis Gillam on loan from Toulouse Olympique for the remainder of the season.

The 28-year-old is no stranger to his hometown club, having previously enjoyed a spell there from 2022 to 2024.

Scoring nine tries in 71 appearances, Gillam became an integral member of Barrow’s forward pack before taking up a full-time opportunity with Toulouse ahead of the 2025 campaign.

He featured 16 times for the French side on their way to winning the Championship Grand Final in his debut season, but has found game time limited since the cub’s promotion to Super League, making just five appearances from the bench this season.

“I’m excited to get back involved with the group, who have been playing some outstanding rugby throughout the season,” said Gillam, whose loan includes a recall option for his parent club.

“It’ll be nice to see a few familiar faces, and hopefully play my part in helping the club enjoy a successful end to the year.”

Barrow boss Paul Crarey is excited to see Gillam back at the club, the forward having turned down other opportunities.

“It’s great news for the club that fan favourite and local lad Ellis Gillam has returned until the end of the season,” he enthused.

“Ellis was fantastic in his time with us the first time around, with his form earning him a full-time contract with Toulouse.

“He hasn’t been getting the regular game time he wants, and despite offers from other Championship clubs, he has decided to give his all for his hometown club.

“Everyone is excited to welcome him back, and we look forward to seeing him in Barrow colours once more.”
