WOMEN’S Super League will make its return to Sky Sports next month with five key fixtures confirmed for live broadcast.
Now that each side has played each other once over seven rounds, the season will now split into two sections – an extended play-off series call the Super Four between Wigan Warriors, Leeds Rhinos, St Helens and York Valkyrie, with Huddersfield Giants, Leigh Leopards, Featherstone Rovers and Barrow Raiders competing in the Shield.
Each competition will see each side play the others in their group both home and away over the course of another six rounds.
The winners of the Super Four will be crowned League Leaders and secure a place in the Women’s Super League Grand Final on Sunday, September 27. The teams finishing second and third contest the semi-final on Friday, September 18 for the remaining Grand Final place.
Reigning champions Wigan get their Super Four campaign underway with a Challenge Cup final rematch against St Helens at the Brewdog Stadium on Thursday, August 6 in the first of Sky’s live televised games.
The broadcasters will be back at St Helens when they host York on Friday, August 28 and will also be at AMT Headingley the following weekend when Leeds host Wigan.
The semi-final, at the home of the second-place team on Friday, September 18, and the Grand Final will also be shown live on Sky Sports.
The Shield meanwhile, will see the remaining four clubs fighting to avoid a promotion/relegation clash between Super League’s bottom side and the winners of the National Championship competition to secure a spot in the top flight for 2027.
