LEEDS RHINOS will be without Ash Handley for at least a fortnight after the centre’s appendicitis scare.
Handley was left out of the 21-man squad for Leeds’ 36-34 defeat at Castleford Tigers on Sunday after being rushed to hospital with acute appendicitis.
After the game, Arthur said: “Ash Handley was here today and he’s getting around okay.
“He will be out two, three or four weeks, somewhere in that range, but he is fine.”
The Leeds coach revealed that Handley did not suffer immediately with the issue following the Rhinos’ win over Catalans Dragons last Saturday.
Instead, it was when the players returned to the UK that the England international took ill.
“It was a bit of a shock. He was getting some stomach pain and we took him to hospital,” explained Arthur.
“There was nothing after the game, it wasn’t until we returned from Catalans that he got the pain.
“He had an infection in his stomach at the start of the season and it might have been an issue then as appendix problems can come and go and it might have resurfaced.”
