DONCASTER centre James Glover is enjoying the challenge of trying to help Richard Horne’s side have an impact on the Championship – and is ready to weigh in for a play-off push.
The experienced Yorkshireman, who has represented five different white-rose sides, featured in the then top-six end-of-season competition for Featherstone last year.
It’s now top ten, and the 32-year-old not only wants to play his part in ensuring the Dons make the cut, but also make an impact in a series that has four stages before the Grand Final, which is likely to be on Sunday, October 4.
“I feel I’ve settled in well,” said Glover, who has also played for Dewsbury, Sheffield (in two spells) and York.
“I’m trying to be consistent and really concentrate on those effort areas, work hard for my teammates and do the things that might go unnoticed by some.”
When it comes to teammates, Glover feels the sixth-placed Dons, who host Batley Bulldogs on Friday, have what it takes to mount a genuine play-off challenge.
“We have good systems, we keep turning up in defence, and when we talk about transition, we have some real skill and speed on the edges,” he added.
