HUNSLET celebrated the 5,000th match since the formation of the original club in 1883 when they hosted Oldham.
The 60-16 defeat left them on 2,485 wins and 722 out of 1,603 since the relaunch of 1973 following the demise of the first version of club amid the sale of the much-loved former Parkside ground in south Leeds.
They had played there since 1888, with the arena home to the famous first ‘All Four Cups’-winning side of 1907-08.
Captained by Albert Goldthorpe, Hunslet won the league title, Challenge Cup, Yorkshire League and Yorkshire Cup.
Versatile back Goldthorpe is the all-time record appearance maker for Hunslet with 701 either side of the game’s split, ahead of brother Walter, a fullback or threequarter, on 611.
Second rower Geoff Gunney, a key figure in the rebirth of 1973, featured in 580 matches.
Hunslet were among the founder members of the Northern Union in 1895, and also won the Challenge Cup in 1933-34 and league title in 1938-39.
