York Knights snap up Huddersfield Giants forward Matty English

YORK KNIGHTS have signed Huddersfield Giants forward Matty English on loan until the end of the season.

English has enjoyed a ten-year career with Huddersfield, making 158 appearances, but the Giants have confirmed his testimonial year will be his last.

The 28-year-old goes straight into the York squad for their clash against St Helens on Saturday and has been linked with a permanent move to the LNER Community Stadium.

Huddersfield director of rugby Andy Kelly has paid tribute to the prop, saying: “It’s a sad day to see Matty go, but he goes with all of our best wishes for the future.

“He has been allowed to explore this opportunity to get some game time that he isn’t getting with us at the moment.

“I would like to thank Matty for his outstanding service to the club, a product of our youth system, and wish him all the best at York and beyond.”
