The recent hot weather and lack of sustained rain has led to a couple of this afternoon’s games in the Premier Division of the National League being called off.
Both are in York.
Acorn’s match with Lock Lane isn’t going ahead (last week’s fixture with Wath Brow Hornets was similarly vetoed, largely through problems with the hosts’ watering system).
The game between Heworth and Thatto Heath has also fallen victim to a sunbaked pitch.
Heworth and Thatto will try again next Saturday (15 August) while a new date has yet to be set for York Acorn v Lock Lane. Acorn will, though, now entertain Wath Brow on Saturday 3 October, RFL Administrator Alan Smith has confirmed.
