SCOTLAND Rugby League’s Grand Final will not be taking place on Sunday.
The match, at Hawick RUFC, was to have involved Edinburgh Eagles and Border Barbarians.
Scotland RL’s Operations and League Director, Barry McGuffog, said: “Border Barbarians were unable to field a team at short notice due to rugby union commitments. However, the likelihood is that the ground would have actually been too hard to play on.”
The Barbarians had themselves stepped into the breech following the previous withdrawal of Tayside Silverbacks.
McGuffog, meanwhile, has not yet advised whether a new date is to be set for the game, or whether the decider is to be treated as cancelled.
