Bradford Bulls’ injury woes continue as Ryan Sutton set for spell on sidelines

BRADFORD BULLS’ injury woes have continued with Ryan Sutton set to miss the club’s clash with Leigh Leopards on Friday night.

The veteran prop suffered damage to a thumb in Bradford’s 34-6 home defeat to Wigan Warriors last Saturday.

“Ryan Sutton won’t play this week,” Bulls coach Kurt Haggerty confirmed.

“He’s not got a fracture, but it’s pretty bad in regard to the ligament damage. Hopefully he’ll be back for Toulouse (on Saturday, August 29).”

Meanwhile, Phoenix Steinwede will be out after failing his HIA in the Wigan defeat, while Luke Hooley remains 50/50 with knee damage.

“There’s nothing serious in the MCL,” Haggerty said of Hooley, before confirming back Waqa Blake will be able to feature.

“Waqa trained, and said his knee is okay. His back is a little bit stiff, but he did the full session.”

Bradford welcomed halfback Joe Keyes into the fold against Wigan for the first time since February following a long-standing back issue, and Haggerty said: “He hasn’t trained today, and will be touch and go whether he plays or not.

“Ebon Scurr had his first day back today, and he’s been okay (following sickness).

”I can’t look past this week, but at the moment, we’ve probably got around 19 (players available).”
