Castleford Tigers defeat ‘not acceptable’ says Chris Chester

DIRECTOR of rugby Chris Chester admitted his Castleford Tigers side were outfought and criticised their lack of effort in the 36-12 defeat at St Helens.

Castleford were 30-0 down at half-time, then played most of the second half with at least a one-man advantage.

“We didn’t handle the physical battle,” Chester said. “The right-edge D (defence) got crucified and it’s not acceptable.

“We’ll have to look at that and the reasons why: individual missed tackles, players not working hard enough. They dominated field position and strangled us with field position.

“We had some fight in that second half, and we showed some spirit, but the game was lost.”
