BRADFORD BULLS have signed fullback Nathan Connell on a two-year contract from Widnes Vikings.
Connell came through the ranks at Salford, making 25 first-team appearances before departing when the old Red Devils were wound up at the end of last season.
He’s impressed this year in the Championship with Widnes, scoring 20 tries in 27 appearances and featuring in Monday’s 1895 Cup final defeat to London Broncos.
Bulls boss Kurt Haggerty was an assistant coach at Salford when Connell made his breakthrough and says the 23-year-old can now shine in the top flight.
“He is very quick, he’s tough, he’s talented and he’s multi-skilled,” said Haggerty.
“He can play fullback, centre, winger and even do a spell in the halves.
“I coached Nathan at Salford when he was a young man and transitioned to the first team so I have seen a glimpse of what he can do.
“He is now ready to step up and become a Super League player so I am really excited to work with Nathan.”
Connell said: “The year at Widnes has been great personally and collectively as a team, but I want to really challenge myself to develop even more as a player and that’s what the full-time environment will offer.”
