MARK PERCIVAL has been cleared to make a farewell appearance for St Helens after avoiding any charge from the match review panel.

The St Helens and former England centre is hanging up his boots at the end of the season, having contributed to five Super League titles plus Challenge Cup and World Club Challenge wins in a 14-year, one-club career.

After receiving a yellow card for a high tackle in Saints’ 48-10 defeat at Leigh Leopards – which ended their chances of making the play-offs – Percival ran the risk of a ban which would have ended his career prematurely.

But the 32-year-old is free to run out at the Totally Wicked Stadium for the final time this Friday, when Hull KR provide the opposition.

It will also be a farewell game for teammate Jonny Lomax, the former club captain who is about to retire too.

No bans have been issued by the panel ahead of the last round of the Super League regular season.

The only severe charges have been brought in the aftermath of the brawl that broke out in Saturday’s Championship fixture between London Broncos and Swinton Lions.

Swinton’s Jordan Brown and London’s Will Jones were both sent off at the time for their roles in the 79th-minute incident.

Brown has been charged with Grade E punching and received a three-match suspension, which will carry over into next season as Swinton’s campaign is now over.

Jones, who was making his debut for a much-changed, play-off bound London, has been referred to a tribunal on a Grade F punching charge.
