LEEDS RHINOS have dominated the Super League Dream Team.

Brad Arthur’s side have six representatives, including reigning Man of Steel Jake Connor, who is one of just three players, alongside teammate James McDonnell and Leigh Leopards centre Umyla Hanley, to retain their place from last year.

Top try-scorer Maika Sivo, fullback Lachlan Miller, centre Ash Handley and free-scoring half Brodie Croft also make the cut from the Rhinos, who had been favourites for the League Leaders’ Shield before being usurped by Wigan Warriors, for whom hooker Brad O’Neill and prolific winger Zach Eckersley are included for the first time.

There are also debut inclusions for Wakefield Trinity front-rower Caleb Hamlin-Uele after a stand-out campaign, which has earned him an England call-up, and Leigh’s Joe Ofahengaue, as well as Toulouse Olympique’s Mathieu Jussaume, who has scored 16 tries for the promoted side.

The back-rower is Toulouse’s first-ever inclusion in a Dream Team, and the only player to receive the recognition from a side outside the top six.

Some ten years after his first inclusion, Warrington Wolves’ Ben Currie has also been selected.

For the first time, supporters have had the chance to vote for the Dream Team inclusions (20 per cent weighting), alongside selected members of the media (30 per cent), whilst the Man of Steel panel – Ellery Hanley, Paul Sculthorpe, Joe Lydon, James Roby and Sam Tomkins – account for half of the vote percentage.

Sivo was the only player selected by all journalists, whilst he was also popular with supporters, making 85 per cent of teams.

The highest weighted score was achieved by Eckersley with 90.77. He was the only player to be selected by all five Man of Steel panellists, also being recognised by eleven of the twelve journalists.

Four panellists backed Hamlin-Uele, whilst O’Neill was the highest rated spine player – his 77.34 only behind the two wingers.
