CATALANS Dragons have signed French youngster Luca Walsh on a one-year deal.
The 19-year-old halfback, who has spent the last two seasons with St Helens, joins a crop of emerging homegrown talent including Guillermo Aispuro-Bichet and Léo Darrélatour at the Dragons.
Youth international Walsh came through the academy at French outfit Lézignan before joining Saints in 2025, going on to feature for their academy and reserve sides before being promoted to their first-team squad.
“I’m really happy to be joining Catalans Dragons and very grateful for the trust the club has shown in me,” said the young talent, who has featured on loan for both Swinton Lions and Whitehaven in the Championship this season.
“I can’t wait to get back on the field, meet the squad and start this new adventure.
“I’m approaching it with a lot of enthusiasm, a smile on my face and a real determination to give my very best.”
Head coach John Cartwright, who led the Dragons to a ninth-placed finish, has also signed the likes of Tyson Gamble, Amir Bourouh, Luciano Leilua and Jesse Arthars to his squad.
He added: “Luca is a young French boy who has spent some time with St Helens in a full time environment.
“He would have benefited greatly with that experience, and adds to our growing list of home grown talent.”
