HULL FC have confirmed the release of French centre Arthur Romano ahead of an anticipated return to Catalans Dragons.
Romano only spent one season in East Yorkshire and was limited to 15 appearances by a four-month ankle lay-off.
The 29-year-old is set to go back to Catalans, where he scored 22 tries in 95 games before leaving at the end of last year.
He will be reunited there with John Cartwright, the Australian coach who signed him for Hull but left the club in April and subsequent took the reins in Perpignan.
Cartwright has already signed Amir Bourouh from Hull, with fellow hooker Alrix Da Costa to move in the other direction.
Catalans have paid a fee for Romano, who had another year on his contract with the Black and Whites and is poised to feature with France, for whom he has seven caps, at the World Cup.
Hull said: “Romano has been released from the remainder of his contract on compassionate grounds, allowing him to return to France to be closer to home and to his young family.”
They’ve already released Bourouh, Zak Hardaker (York Knights) and Jake Arthur (Huddersfield Giants) from contracts as incoming coach Steve McNamara is given the opportunity to reshape the squad in his image.
And Sam Lisone may follow after reportedly being suspended by the club, pending an internal investigation.
