DARYL POWELL is hopeful Emre Guler will be available for Wakefield Trinity’s Super League semi-final.
Wakefield overcame Leigh Leopards 26-16 in an eliminator despite Guler’s red card on the hour for hitting out at Owen Trout while being tackled.
Head coach Powell doesn’t believe the ex-NRL prop will have a case to answer from the Disciplinary Match Review Panel on Monday.
“I didn’t think there was much in it,” he said. “I thought it might have been a sin bin because I don’t think it’s a punch.
“He has reacted to pretty heavy contact but I don’t think there’s any real bad intent.
“Jazz Tevaga then got dropped on his head just after, but I thought he (Chris Kendall) refereed quite well in general.
“I don’t think it’s a red card and I don’t think anything else should come from it.”
On the overall tie, Powell said: “I thought we were outstanding and dominated the game, especially in the first half.
“The scoreline didn’t really reflect it as they scored just before half-time (to make it 12-6).
“But we blew them away. Emre Guler being sent off sort of changed the game a little bit but I thought we did smart things to shut the game out and they did some smart things chasing the game.
“I thought we were awesome for large parts of the game and saw it out when we needed to.”
