LEIGH LEOPARDS will need to work harder than ever in the recruitment market going forward, according to their coach Adrian Lam.
The Leopards bowed out of the Super League play-offs with a 26-16 loss to Wakefield Trinity on Friday night.
And with the likes of Owen Trout, Robbie Mulhern and Isaac Liu all leaving the club at the end of the campaign, Leigh will need to replace several of their important players going into 2027.
So far, the Leopards have yet to announce a signing for next season, but with six departures already confirmed, Lam knows that he and his backroom team will have to work hard to retain their status as contenders next season.
“We’ve been quite aggressive with our recruitment and retention since we got back into Super League,” Lam said.
“We had 13 leave the first year, 12 the second and then seven last year and now we are looking at five or six leaving this year.
“We are getting the number down and the sooner we get down to none leaving – which may take another two or three years – we will have a fair chance.
“That’s going to take a lot of hard work, but our job is to make sure we are in a position to do it.
“We’ve done as good a job as anyone over the last four years. And now we will have to work harder than we ever have done. But we will be okay.”
