THE Australian Rugby League Commission and the Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese MP, have announced the Australian Men’s and Women’s Prime Minister’s XIII squads to the Papua New Guinea PM’s XIII teams in the PNG capital Port Moresby this Saturday, October 3.
Both teams have been selected from clubs that are not in the play-offs, with a mixture of established stars and younger prospects.
“The players selected are some of the best players in the game,” Australian Rugby League Commission Executive Chairman Peter V’landys said.
“Not only do they have the opportunity to represent their country, but they will also be ambassadors for Australia and for Rugby League. They will change lives for the better.
“On behalf of the Commission, I congratulate them on their selection.”
The Men’s side will be coached by premiership and Origin winner Ben Te’o (above), while the Women’s squad will be led by Jillaroos coach Jess Skinner.
“I could not be more excited and confident to be guiding this team of players,” said Te’o.
“The squad is filled with incredible talent, some of them still early in their career but who are making a massive impact with their respective clubs.
“We’ve got some real strength in this side up front as well as fast and dynamic backs.”
“With the women’s international game going from strength to strength, the players can’t wait for the game,” said Skinner.
