HUDDERSFIELD Giants will have more top four Super League experience in their ranks next season after signing former Leeds Rhinos half back Frankie Blakey.
The 19-year-old went on to make total of 20 appearance for the Rhinos following her debut against St Helens in May 2025, but all but one of those came from the bench. She left Headingley last month in pursuit of more game time and will be hoping to earn that as part of a Giants side eager to break the monopoly of the current top four.
“When Frankie became available we were very interested in having a chat,” said Giants coach Nathan Graham, who knows Blakey will add some versatility to his squad.
“She is another great addition to our squad for the 2027 season. She’s a quality player who can play a variety of positions. She’s young, had a good start to her career at Leeds and we will be looking for her to kick on this year with a solid pre-season under her belt.”
Although a new signing with the Giants, the club is not new territory for Blakey, who already has some idea of what to expect from her new surroundings.
“I attended a few camps at Huddersfield when I was younger and always found it to be such an enjoyable and welcoming environment,” added Blakey.
“I’m really excited to be joining the club, starting this new chapter with a new team and to see how I can develop as a player, learn from the new coaches and make the most of this opportunity.”
